Boomerang countered, “Maybe you’d be better at throwing a killer stick.” Bill stopped tossing. “A killer what?” “The killer stick was an Aborigine weapon. They would spot prey and all throw killer sticks at it in the hope of subduing it. The boomerang, on the other hand, was a toy — a perfect toy for their environment. Properly thrown, it would return to the thrower instead of getting lost in the grasses and weeds.” Janice was overwhelmed. “Our approach to company growth has been just like throwing killer sticks!” she exclaimed. “We need to think ‘boomerang.’” Bill agreed. “We’ve been lost in the weeds. We need to re-think our approach to this business.” Bill was inspired; he couldn’t wait to get started on applying a boomerang approach to his business. He wanted to show his appreciation to Boomerang. “You’ve been more helpful than you know — how can we buy boomerangs from you?” 18
